Ep. 14: Comfort vs. Peace

What if comfort isn’t peace?
Sometimes we confuse the two.
A season can feel comfortable because nothing is being challenged. No risks. No stretching. No surrender. Everything is familiar.
But comfort and peace aren’t the same thing.
Biblical peace isn’t the absence of resistance.
It’s the presence of God in the middle of it.
Every time our church enters 21 Days of Prayer, it almost feels predictable.
People get busy.
Misunderstandings happen.
Division is created.
Discouragement creeps in.
Opposition tries to take over.
Schedules suddenly become packed.
And if you’ve been walking with the Lord for a while, you almost smile because you’ve seen what comes next.
Breakthrough.
Healing.
Freedom.
Restored relationships.
People encountering Jesus for the very first time or again.
Not because prayer is magic…
But because when people intentionally pursue God, they’re stepping onto ground that matters.
The enemy has never been threatened by comfortable Christians.
He’s threatened by surrendered ones.
Now before you can react to all that and say, “Well, my life is going great. I don’t want to stir things up…”
The goal of following Jesus has never been simply to protect a comfortable life.
It’s to become more like Him.
Sometimes that journey is peaceful.
Sometimes it requires courage.
Sometimes God lovingly exposes areas we’ve learned to live with because He wants something better for us.
And yes, growth can feel uncomfortable.
But uncomfortable doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.
Sometimes it’s evidence that you’re moving.
“Don’t let the fear of a battle keep you from the blessing on the other side.”
Throughout Scripture, almost every significant promise came with opposition. Israel had to step into the Jordan before it parted. David faced Goliath before becoming king.
We learned in stories like these that Opposition wasn’t proof they were outside God’s will—it was often encountered while they were walking in it.

Pulse Check
Where have you mistaken comfort for peace?
Is there an invitation from God you’ve been avoiding—not because you dont want to be obedient, but because you’re afraid of what might change if you say yes?
Because on the other side of surrender has never been less of God.
It’s always been more.
