More than a Kit, A Lasting Impact: Beza's Story

Meet eleven-year-old Beza*. She is a sixth-grade student living with her mother in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Like many young girls her age, Beza dreams about her future and the difference she hopes to make in the world. Yet her journey has not been without challenges.
For the past year, Beza has been a participant in All God’s Children International's Modern Day Princess program, an initiative designed to help girls build essential life skills, develop confidence, and strengthen their sense of self-worth as they navigate adolescence. Through mentorship, encouragement, and practical education, the program equips girls like Beza with the tools they need to face the future with courage and resilience.
In addition to supporting Beza directly, AGCI serves her family through the Child Advocacy Center’s Family Preservation program. This support helps her mother access critical resources, including financial assistance and medical insurance, providing greater stability and hope for their household.
Recently, Beza was among twenty-one girls who received hygiene kits made possible through the generous support of Altrua Ministries. Each kit contained essential items such as sanitary pads, body soap, and laundry soap, simple but vital resources that help support the health, dignity, and well-being of adolescent girls.

The day of the distribution was filled with excitement and gratitude. Smiles spread across the room as the girls received their kits and eagerly looked through the contents. For many, these items address practical needs that can often be difficult for families to meet consistently. Caregivers also expressed heartfelt appreciation, sharing how meaningful and helpful the supplies would be for their daughters and their households.
For Beza and her peers, the impact of these hygiene kits reaches far beyond the physical items themselves. Receiving support in this way communicates something even more important: that they are seen, valued, and cared for. During a season of life that can bring uncertainty and new challenges, these resources help reinforce a sense of dignity and confidence. Beza’s participation in the Modern Day Princess program has also encouraged her to think positively about what lies ahead. When asked about her future, she shared a simple but powerful dream; to bring justice to everyone. Her response reflects the compassion and determination that AGCI strives to nurture in every girl it serves.
“Thinking about my future makes me happy,” Beza says.
Those words capture the heart of this story. Through programs that provide practical support, mentorship, and opportunities for growth, young girls like Beza are discovering that their futures are full of possibility. They are learning that their voices matter, their dreams are worth pursuing, and their lives have value.
Because of Altrua Ministries' partnership with All God's Children International, young girls like Beza are receiving more than essential supplies, they are receiving encouragement, support, and hope for the future. Together, we are helping ensure that girls have the resources they need to stay healthy, build confidence, and pursue their dreams. Every act of generosity helps reinforce a simple but powerful message: they are seen, valued, and worthy of opportunity.
